McDonald Observatory's public information office has a lot of astronomy information at its disposal, but reworking it for a younger audience was the challenge when they wanted a new section of their website for kids. For Mac the Firefly, I integrated a variety of content sources: transcripts of staff interviews, existing teacher materials, FAQs, and images, open source scripts for game and activity functionality, and the logos and icons of a local graphic artist. The site went from concept to launch in about two months. |
