Connecticut-based Aid to Artisans is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to creating economic
opportunities for craftspeople in developing communities
around the world. A site redesign in 2002 by students from
a local college's art department resulted in a slow-loading
site with inconsistent navigational features and disorienting
color usage. The redesign, which launched in June 2003, features a cleaner, more readable layout (based on Dreamweaver templates), navigation menus tested for consistency in all major browsers, and a password-protected administrator's tool. "The results of Doug's work are clear: Acclaim not just internally from management — where strict cost controls and launch schedules were crucial — but from our diverse group of international users ranging from artisans and funders to wholesalers and importers with whom we work." — Kenan Pollack, Information Technology Manager (Aid to Artisans) |
